Should I revive this account? Biggest reason I haven't deleted it is because it's the only social that links to my website. Though I think the reasons I stopped using DeviantArt aren't relevant anymore and there are still things about this site that make it more artist friendly than the other sites I've been using... so I've been considering.

Guess part of it is also deciding where to start when it comes to sharing the things, I've created cause so much has happened since then. So yeah... just some food for thought.

Going to delete my cosplay photos from this site. Gotten way too many creepy notifications from them. It'd be one thing if this was my drawings and that, but these are photographs I've taken of other people many years ago. And while I've gotten consent to take the photos, deviantArt isn't really the wholesome platform it used to be. It doesn't really feel right to keep photos I took of other people up when people are only liking and favoring them for purposes beyond what I intend.

That said, with the way deviantArt is design, that will take awhile so I'll probably start with the more revealing cosplay photos to start and then work my way towards deleting everything else. That said, if anyone ever comes across their photo and wants it removed from this site, DM me and I'll delete it as soon as I see it. I'm very inactive on this platform so don't be surprised if it takes me a few weeks before I'm even on the site, but I'll do what I can to take it down as soon as possible, especially if you reach out to me on a platform I am more active on.

TBH it'd be more convenient to just delete my account. I don't really care about this site like I used to. But it's so hard to find a good platform for art on the Internet, I figured I'd keep the drawings I have uploaded up here at the very least cause currently my site is tied to that. But yeah, there's been reasons I haven't been too active here.

If you have a Twitter or Tumblr, I'm much more active on those platforms so if you're curious to actually see art posts I'd recommend checking those out. I tend to go by JackitK everywhere I can, so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

I have a hotlink to all my social media platforms on my site, so I'd recommend checking that out. There's a lot of cool projects I've been involved in beyond art lately, like making a hard mod of the Golden Sun GBA game. So, I highly encourage you to check that out.

So I began to realize I never properly done a write up of what Overseer of the Elements is....kind-of unfair with how often I bring it up, so let me at least get you up to speed on the bare basics.

If Golden Sun and Paper Mario had a kid that was also raised by Persona...that's Overseer of the Elements in an elevator pitch.

First and foremost, Overseer of the Elements is purely conceptual. As much as I'd love it to be a real game/series some day, my lack of dedication to programming and other factors force me to acknowledge that currently it is unrealistic for it to be more than pike dream. So for now, I'm focusing on fleshing out the story, characters, and concepts of the gameplay/mechanics through other means like drawings. With the hopes that someday I can flesh it into a reality.

As for what it would be, Overseer is an RPG with fantasy aspects in a modern world. It takes many inspirations from various RPGs that have shaped my childhood/early adulthood. Ranging from mechanics heavily inspired by Golden Sun, along a system inspired by the social link mechanic from the post-Persona 3 games. Though there are a few OG Paper Mario elements that are currently in the brainstorming phase. I don't want to add in so much that it overwhelms the player.... but for now, no harm dreaming in a dream game.

The world of Overseer of the Elements pulls a lot of inspiration from Golden Sun, though with less of a fancy world focus. The writing would be more of the tone of a Mario RPG or even something like Persona 4. Overall light-hearted, but does have moments it takes itself seriously. It makes me think of Mother 3 in the sense there's plenty of light-hearted fun but also times the story gets dark enough to give everyone stakes. There's also additional story elements that I feel is only possible in a video game, but I don't talk about it too much because it very easy gets into spoiler territory.

General gameplay loop has you using the mythical (and occasionally scientific) powers of your party members to solve puzzles and achieve victory in battles. As the party progresses through out the journey, the party will learn various new "Myi" skills that they can use in and outside of battles. Various puzzles blocking our heroes progression will require various combinations of Myi skills to solve. Some are as basic as "summon fire to light a torch" or "blow wind to move a windmill". Other skills include being able to move around objects normally out of reach, reflect incoming projectiles back, or doing a fast dash to out-speed traps.

Myi skills can also be used in battles, but that is far from your only option for combat. A key feature of both the class and combat system of Overseer of the Elements are the Sol Spirits They are creatures that embody the elements will assist your party by lending their strength. These abilities can vary between improving your stats, even changing your class to use drastically changing the way party members normally function; using techniques exclusive to these creatures; and combine their strength to allow you to use powerful attacks. While functionally battles play out similarly to Golden Sun, there are a couple key factors that make Overseer of the Elements stand out. I do have a drawing that goes into more detail relating to Sol Spirits, as well as additional drawings and write-ups I plan to do relating to them as well.

The biggest one being "Team-ups". Technically there are no "summons" in Overseer of the Elements and "Team-ups" take the role summons would play in Golden Sun. While they use Sol Spirits in a similar way, there's a couple key differences. First of all, Team-ups have purposes beyond damage nukes. While they're are some hard hitting Team-ups, there's also skills that can play defensive & supportive roles as well. For example, one team-up pulls up a cloud of fog that lets the pair dodge attacks that turn, while another team-up heals the entire party while also giving stat boosts. Secondly, minus a small handful of single Sol Spirit unleashes, Team-ups require two party members to both use their turn to pull off this technique. Third, Team-ups have to be unlocked by building up the bond between said party members doing the Team-up technique. Occasionally this will happen during story related events, but often they'll need to build up their "bond gauge" in and outside of battle to reach their full potential as a pair.

Each pair of party members will have their own "Bond Gauge" that'll grow and rank up as the party members spend more time with each other. The two primary means to rank up party members bonds are having them interact with each other in battle and through interactions they have with each other outside of battles. In battles using team-ups will be the most effective way for characters to build bonds with each other. Though actions like using items or supportive spells on each other will also help.

Outside of battle, bond building works similar to a "Tales" game, where you occasionally receive a prompt to trigger a short dialogue scene. While these are all optional, it's encouraged to let them play out. These happen often after major plot events, if a party member had personal stakes that didn't get brought up in the main scene. However, you can also engage in these scenes as you explore dungeons, spend times in town, or manage to overcome a major obstacle that ties to a character. For example spending time at an inn or a restaurant can lead to flavor text that also builds up the bond of the party members involved in that scene.

Not only do these scenes allow you to learn more about the characters and add personality to the adventure, but the bonds between characters will grow. With a more major scene happening between the pair when their bond reaches a new rank. As characters rank up, they gain additional perks in battle with the Team-ups marking major milestones in the characters relationship. This is where the game's Persona inspirations really shine.

While there are other details I'd love to dive into in future posts, this is the framework that makes Overseer of the Elements, Overseer of the Elements. I have already done various drawings sketching brainstorming various ideas I already have. Including more details on the Sol Spirit system, possible classes I could do, and some potential Sol Spirit designs. Though there will defiantly be more concept art and write-ups coming in the future as well.

So I'm back from Conbravo so as per tradition, my focus will be more towards that... or it would be if I didn't find out today that I would have the house myself for a chunk of the day so I wanted take advantage of one of my better recording opportunities to catch up on some post-com and podcasting I've been meaning to do while I had it.

Then I had to help family, cook dinner, and before I knew it, here we are at the evening.  On the bright side, I'm about at the same pace I typically am with editing cosplay photos.  It's just a shame because a major reason I took today off was to get a head start on the photos and get them out sooner than usual. Maybe I can squeeze some work on them tonight though.  Overall, the goal is to get them all cropped and up on the Jackitkay Facebook page by the end of this weekend.  You'll probably get them earlier than that as I'll upload each date as I complete them. For example, Friday's cosplay photos could go up as soon as Wednesday, even if it takes me to several days later to do the Saturday and Sunday cosplay sets.  I'm looking forward to share all of it with you all.

So now that I'm back from PAX East I do have working cosplay photos on the back of my mind though my first priority is to clean up my room from the unpacking I did, so point being I probably won't get started with organizing, editing where needed, and posting cosplay photos until later on in the week, so I'm shooting to start releasing them around April 8th.  I'll be starting with posting them at Jackitkay over on Facebook, make highlights for Twitter(Jackitstuff) and Instagram(Jackitkay) when I'm done with that and then work on posting some over on DeviantArt(JackitK)

If I make any sudden changes I may announce said changes over on Twitter quicker but I'm trying to get into the habit of making announcements over on a personal site I made so people don't have to have an account on a single site like Twitter, Facebook, or devaintArt to know what's going on with my hobbies.

Though I'll continue to try and make journals here if I feel the updates heavily lean towards cosplay and art.  Still if you want to keep up with everything I do I encourage you to at least check out the homepage of my site. I have a google calendar set up to show when I plan to release certain videos and similar pieces of content. Plus I'm planning on incorporating the blog right onto the homepage next chance I get to sit down with it so all the news you need can be in one place.

If you have a Twitter account and don't mind the meming and other off topic posts I make on it, following me at Jackitstuff is also a good way to keep up to date since that's usually the first place I post plans and updates since it's the place I'm most frequently on.

Whether you decide to follow me elsewhere or just stick here, hope you enjoy the content I plan to release as I get it together, those photos will be coming up here eventually.
